The Shadow Systems U526 California Compliant model is a semi-automatic 5.56 NATO rifle with a 16″ barrel and a 10+1 capacity. Shadow Systems ships the California model with one CompMag installed. It has a Picatinny rail receiver and black polymer stock and grip.

The 16″ barrel is 4150 CMV steel, chrome-lined and spiral fluted in a hybrid profile, with a 1:7 twist. It runs a direct impingement, intermediate-length gas system with a cross-pinned 17-4 stainless gas block and a Maelstrom three-prong flash hider that works with Plan B suppressor mounts. The bolt is C158 steel and MPI tested. Controls are fully ambidextrous: bolt release, charging handle and a safety selector set up for 60 or 90 degree throw. The Elite two-stage duty trigger breaks at 3.5 lbs. A lightweight M-LOK handguard, Shadow Systems grip and stock with QD sockets round it out, and the rifle weighs 6.2 lbs. It comes without sights.
