How to Buy a Firearm Online
What to expect when ordering online and completing an FFL transfer.
Before You Order
Check that the firearm is lawful in your state and locality, and that you meet applicable age, residency, and eligibility requirements. Your receiving dealer will confirm transfer requirements.
1. Choose Your Firearm
Browse the catalog, select your item, and add it to your cart. Review the product details and any state shipping restrictions before ordering.
2. Select a Receiving FFL
Firearms purchased online are shipped to a federally licensed dealer, not directly to your home. Confirm the dealer accepts transfers and ask about its transfer fee.
3. Complete Checkout
Sign in or create your account, select your receiving FFL, review the order, and complete checkout. We may need the dealer’s license information before shipment.
4. Shipment and Dealer Arrival
After processing and required verification, the firearm ships to the receiving FFL. Wait until that dealer confirms the firearm is ready before visiting.
5. Transfer and Pickup
Bring acceptable identification. The receiving dealer handles ATF Form 4473, the applicable background check, and any required waiting period or other transfer requirements. The dealer determines when the firearm can be released.
Important Information
Federal dealer-transfer age requirements generally differ by firearm type; state law may impose stricter requirements. Do not make false statements about the actual buyer or attempt an unlawful straw purchase. Contact the receiving dealer if you have eligibility or transfer questions.
